Personally, I dont really beleive in this term, the reason is simple. Anytime I take up a bookie on a bonus offer, similar to nine.com's recent deposit 100$ get 100$ offer, I am offering that bookie every opportunity in the world to win me over as a regular & full time client.

Sure, if I dont like the shop & I find no value there, I will simply roll over my bonus, get out of the shop & move on....

but on the other hand, the bookie now has a chance to win me over with their customer service & offerings.....

I can say with absolute honesty, that on many occasions, I have taken a bonus to try out a new bookie thinking that this bookie would likely not be part of my 'regular' outs. But that bookie has WOWED me so much that I stay there much beyond my rollover & continue to remain a loyal customer....

A recent example of this 'HERITAGE'. I took the 30% bonus, rolled over 7 times & was up a fair amount, but I am enjoying my experience there so much I am happy to keep my account there funded & continue to bet with then.

Another recent example is 'SportBet'.

Good post SS. V-Wager is a good example of this for me. Did the $200 for $200 and found the book to be pretty solid. 3 hours to neteller 7X my deposit. This makes me happy, so I'll stick around and give them some action.

oddly enough, nine.com may fall into this category aswell.....

Last night I noticed they have tons of betting options like team totals in MLB & many alternative type lines....

Also.... Check out their lay -105 style pricing today (Tuesday).... Couple of games I like (3 to be exact) where I can find the best number.

Of course they have small limits, but to me (& most here) that is not an issue. I am happy with 300$.

I have no problem at all with those types of terms dante, as long as everything is clear & upfront..... If you manage things well you should do fine..... Sometimes it does happen that you have too much money at a less than desirable shop & you have more time left on your rollover so you are in a bind, but again, if you manage it well.... you should be fine.

Ditto for me with Heritage. I really like this book, and with my recent losing skid, I'm sure they love me too. :sad3: But they were a book that was not even on my radar, and now is a must have for me.

I have been gambling for a little over 4 years now and have 5 standard books that i do business with. I am happy with them and leave significant balances with them during the dead season (after bball and before football season starts). Here is the common sense question any professional gambler would ask, why in the hell would i go leaping from book to book just because some one dangled a miserly $100 in my face.. (at least now you know the genesis of the term "whore" in the above description.) I dont even know if the book is legitimate, the caliber of people working there or that i will even get paid if i win!!! Why the hell would i leave my good standing accounts at highly reputable books to go risk my money at some podunk POS book simply because they are giving me a miserable $100... (Notice how the bonus whores will respond to this by talking in circles about picking up $100 in the street instead of addressing the issue of indulging in unecessary worthless risks)

Secondly, you stated that apparently if you dont like the book you will "simply roll over your bonus" and get out! With all due respect that is total bullshit!!!! A newbie might think it makes perfect sense but there is zero logic in that sentence. (if i am wrong please enlighten the rest of us who dont go bonus whoring)

What the hell does that mean anyway? Did they offer free blow jobs with $1000 re-ups after you lost may be they let you switch sides with 2 mins left in the game and your team is down 30 points? May be i missed something in the short four years i have been gambling. I am typically satisfied with simply winning and getting paid in time. Which is one advantage Las Vegas has over all offshore books. All my current books pay me with great precision!!!! What is this "wowing" stuff you are talking about?


To all newbies out there, simply use common sense when some one makes posts that dont add up to much when examined!

redpimp, I don't know what you're talking about. I deposit $2,000 somewhere they give me a 20% bonus for $400, I meet rollover requirements I have an extra $400 I wouldn't have in my original book. Anyone who doesn't take advantage of the generous offers who plays offshore is leaving significant money on the table. If you have a decent size bankroll, imo you should always have some of it available for special opportunities. If you're not comfortable with that so be it, but for those willing to do a little extra work, the pay off is there.

Not being a bonus whore if you play poker is definitely -ev. I am not talking about setting up accounts for your wife. I am talking about simply spreading your money around and timing withdrawal and deposits to take advantage of bonuses. in the end the site always generates more rake than you recieve in bonuses, so they are always making a profit that they normally would not recieve had they not offered the bonus.

I played at a number of sites and only play at a site if i am getting rakeback or attempting to clear a bonus. I didnt always do this and regret leaving thousands on the table.

Ok red, I'm gonna type this slow for you, tell me how its a bad deal if you deposit $2,000 at another sportsbook, receive a 20% bonus that gives you $400 cash. (with me so far?, I'm not going too fast yet am I) You only play there if you get a number that is as good or better than the 5 books YOU normally play at(still with me). Regardless of what rollover is, say its 10X, if you are not playing numbers worse than your normal books and making your normal wagers, when you have met your rollover you have an extra $400 that you wouldn't have had if you were only playing at your normal books. you are totally offbase here, anyone with a tiny semblance of intelligence can easily complete the rollover... that doesnt mean that you will necessarilly win at the Book in Question.... You never really know where your money may go to be honest, & yes, that is a Risk.......

So what do you think of line shopping?

You talk about a "miserable $100", so

a) Do you think that taking advantage of a "miserable half-point" is worth it?

b) Is it worth laying a bet at -107 instead of -110 on a dime wager for $30? (If $100 was "miserable", what does that make $30?)

c) Is it ok to scalp a game for $20 to $40 because you got -112 at one shop and +114 at another?

d) Is it ok to effectively reduce the vig to from -136 to say - 114 on your bet by scalping?

The bottom line is the bottom line. If a book offers me a bonus, it means I am playing with reduced vig. It is that simple. If another book offers me another bonus, I move over to that book and wager with reduced vig. As long as the books are safe, there is no such thing as a "worthless risk".

PS: That being said, would I ever play at BCN or Royal? No - because I wouldn't feel safe, and peace of mind is very important to me. Also, I would never play at BOS simply because I do not believe in playing with people who have been identified as (insert whatever).

you are off base... I think by specifying that i use 5 standard books, that should have given you the hint that i take line shopping seriously!!! And that is far different from wasting my time posting up at some shoddy book being touted on here that i never heard of simply because some proffessional shill on the Rx claims its worth it!!!
